Catering to your room:
Each day you will be able to choose your meal from our daily menus delivered to your room. If you have a request for dishes not shown on the menus, you can always contact our Catering Manager via Room Service on admission. We can cater for almost all dietary requirements. Halal meat is provided for all Arabic Patients. In the case of extremely rare dietary requirements, please contact our Catering department in advance of your hospital stay on 020 7390 6144.

Room service
A Room Service menu will be in your room. Room Service is available until 8.30pm. After this time a selection of sandwiches, tea and coffee may be ordered. Tea and coffee is included in the room charge.
Housekeeping
Cleanliness and hygiene are one of the Portland’s Hospital’s top priorities. The rooms are cleaned to a high standard on a daily basis and fresh towels provided. A dry cleaning service is also available.
Newspapers
You are able to select a daily newspaper. The Times newspaper is complimentary on request.
Visitors
Visiting is unrestricted for partners who are able to stay overnight if desired. Children and other family members may also visit at any time.

Infection control
There are hand cleansing gel dispensers in hospital lifts, and inside and outside all rooms. The Portland Hospital ask that visitors wash their hands on entering your room and then use the cleansing hand gel provided, and again on leaving the room.
Security
Security is very high on the Portland Hospital’s agenda. All hospital staff access the building with electronic tags. Before entering your room, each visitor will have to sign in and report to several access points. The Portland Hospital is equipped with CCTV. A baby system in operation on our maternity wards providea increased security for the care of the newborn babies. Visitors leave the hospital by 10pm and are asked to show consideration where appropriate.
Confidentiality
The Portland Hospital complies fully with the Data Protection Act 1998. No personal information will shared without your knowledge and consent.
For your Information
Chargeable services
Outgoing telephone calls, newspapers other than the Times, Room Service other than tea and coffee are all chargeable. There is a fee of £65 for companions for each night’s stay, exclusive of meals and drinks.
Smoking
The Portland Hospital operates a non smoking policy in the best interest of babies and other patients.
Gratuities
The Portland Hospital policy states that staff may not accept gratuities for services performed and we kindly ask you to observe this.

All cards, flowers and gifts will be delivered to your room by The Portland Hospital’s Front of House staff.
Clergy
Your own religious advisor is welcome to visit you while you are in hospital. The Portland Hospital may contact ministers of most denominations and make arrangements.
Fire instructions
The Portland Hospital is protected by an automatic fire alarm system.
