Emergency Gynaecology

Rapid assessment. Prompt care. Expert reassurance.

At ObGyn Matters, we understand that gynaecological symptoms can be sudden, distressing, and sometimes frightening. Whether you’re experiencing unexpected bleeding, acute pelvic pain, or complications in early pregnancy, our Emergency Gynaecology service offers rapid access to experienced consultant-led care when you need it most.

When should I seek urgent gynaecological care?

You may need an emergency gynaecology consultation if you’re experiencing:

  • Sudden or severe pelvic pain
  • Heavy or unexpected vaginal bleeding
  • Bleeding in early pregnancy
  • Signs of miscarriage
  • Suspected ectopic pregnancy – pelvic pain in early pregnancy
  • Acute pain following gynaecological surgery or treatment
  • Retained products of conception (following miscarriage or termination)
  • Signs of pelvic infection (pain, fever, offensive vaginal discharge)
  • Concerns about an ovarian cyst or suspected torsion of the ovary

If you’re unsure whether your symptoms require urgent attention, our team can guide you and help arrange emergency assessment where necessary.

What does emergency gynaecology care involve?

We provide an expert-led assessment that may include:

  • Thorough consultation and history
  • Pelvic examination
  • High-resolution transvaginal ultrasound including 3D imaging
  • Blood tests
  • Urine testing
  • Cervical swabs (if infection is suspected)

We aim to reach a clear diagnosis quickly and offer treatment as needed — whether that’s medical management, further imaging, or urgent surgical intervention. In many cases, reassurance and outpatient follow-up is all that is required.

Rapid Access to Consultant Care

Unlike busy A&E departments, we provide calm, consultant-led care in a private setting. You’ll be seen by an experienced gynaecologist with rapid access to scans, investigations, and onward management, without delays.

Early Pregnancy Concerns

Our emergency gynaecology service also includes care for women in early pregnancy experiencing:

  • Pain or bleeding
  • Pregnancy of unknown location (PUL)
  • Missed or incomplete miscarriage
  • Ectopic pregnancy assessment
  • Viability scan

We will support you with empathy and clarity, ensuring your care is safe, timely and compassionate at every step.

What Happens Next?

Following your assessment, we’ll talk through your diagnosis and options in full. You’ll receive:

  • A summary of findings and recommendations
  • Prescriptions
  • A follow-up plan
