You will be given a 30 minute appointment with one of our Consultant specialists who will take a full gynaecological history where you will have an opportunity to discuss your fertility concerns.
Where necessary an examination may be performed and appropriate test will be arranged with you.
Fertility tests for women
These may include hormone blood tests and a blood test for Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH). This is often referred to as a test to look at ovarian reserve, the number of healthy eggs a woman has left indicating her potential fertility reserve.
Swabs may be taken to look at the vaginal bacterial flora.
A vaginal ultrasound is performed or can be arranged for a later date, to look at the anatomy and health of the womb, ovaries and fallopian tubes. The scan may also be used to count the number of follicles growing in the ovaries.
If required we can arrange further scans looking at the patency of the fallopian tubes. The results of all these tests will then be explained to you by your consultant.
You will also have the opportunity to discuss egg freezing if this is something that you are considering. We will give you impartial advice and can refer you to one of our fertility partners on request.
We will also arrange a comprehensive semenalysis for heterosexual couples and are also very pleased to assess female couples where perhaps both partners may wish to undergo investigations.
